Vienna Press Information – June 2026 New hotels in Vienna: historic charm and stylish design
The Companion Vienna: in the best of company
Just a few steps from Westbahnhof, a late-19th-century building has entered a new chapter. The newly opened hotel is called The Companion Vienna. It was founded by four friends – Kai Hollmann, Florian Kollenz, Christian Lainer, and Michael Todt – who have already demonstrated a flair for stylish comfort with Superbude Wien and the rooftop restaurant NENI am Prater.
The Companion follows a similar approach: less classic hotel formality, more open, everyday hospitality. The typical Viennese period apartment building has been carefully reimagined: Existing structures were preserved and signs of age were not concealed. Inside, different influences come together: timeless design meets Art Deco elements; bold splashes of color meet natural materials such as marble, metal, and wood. A continuous wall rail runs through all areas, quietly bringing cohesion to the mix of styles. The 138 rooms were adapted to the building’s existing layout. Some are compact, others more spacious, and some feature unusual floor plans. Categories range from a solo room to a two-story suite with views over Mariahilfer Strasse.
In the midst of the lively bustle around the Vienna Westbahnhof Station, The Companion offers a calm counterpoint: its stylish interiors create room to breathe and invite guests to take a small break from the city. Whether over Mediterranean dishes at the in-house restaurant Boca or relaxed drinks at the elegant Calypso Bar.

Palais Chotek: Viennese history with a new shine
With the newly opened Palais Chotek, Vienna has gained another hotel that closely links past and present. Located in the 9th district, just a few minutes’ walk from the Ringstrasse, the property combines imperial history with contemporary luxury. Built in the 19th century in Neo-Renaissance style, the palais was once a gathering place for Vienna’s aristocracy. It is named after the Chotek family, which also included Sophie Chotek, Duchess of Hohenberg. As the wife of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, she was known as a hostess who brought people together regardless of rank or background — an idea that lives on today in the all-day bar named after her.
The faithfully restored Belle Étage is particularly impressive, with soaring rooms, fine stucco details and a quiet sense of grandeur that runs through the entire interior. The historic staircase in the listed street-facing wing feels like a journey back in time: elegant, serene, almost museum-like. The 164 rooms and suites feature a restrained, luxurious design. Fine materials, classic parquet floors and custom-made furniture create a warm atmosphere. Many rooms overlook the green inner courtyard, offering a surprisingly peaceful retreat in the middle of the city. The amenities, too, meet the property’s upscale standards.
Palais Chotek also offers spaces for meetings and conferences, including the approximately 92-square-meter Klimt room, two boardrooms for small groups of up to 14 people, and two individually adaptable meeting rooms of about 30 square meters each.

Miiro Spittelberg: Between Biedermeier, art, and contemporary urban life
Right in the heart of Spittelberg, where winding courtyards, galleries, and small venues define the neighborhood, Miiro SpittelBerg has opened as the London-based hotel group’s second Vienna property. True to the motto “Brilliantly Considered Stays,” this hotel also takes a distinctly neighborhood-oriented approach, blending harmoniously into its charming surroundings: the historic 7th-district quarter whose revitalized Biedermeier houses are now among the most popular meeting places in Vienna’s inner districts.
This connection between past and present also shapes the interior. Art provides the common thread. Works by Attersee, Moldovan, Mikl, Pfaffenbichler, Zobernig, Kolig and LaCroix appear throughout the hotel. A striking contemporary highlight is the abstract ceiling painting by Austrian artist Florian Metzner, also known as @Flowsofly, which runs through the entrance area, reception and bar.
The 132 rooms and suites are tailored to the needs of city travelers and, depending on the category, offer terraces or views over Vienna. A 24-hour gym complements the amenities. The ground floor is also designed as a public meeting place: at Poco, the in-house restaurant and bar, guests can enjoy pizza, sharing dishes, aperitifs, cocktails and drinks. The offering is rounded out by vinyl nights and a DJ corner – a concept aimed equally at hotel guests, the neighborhood, and passersby from the city. Starting in September 2026, the hotel will also offer two rooms for meetings and conferences for small groups of up to 14 and 18 people, respectively.

Wilde Aparthotels Vienna Fleischmarkt: Old Post Office, New Chapter
In the heart of the 1st district, between Fleischmarkt, Schwedenplatz and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a new place to stay has opened that deliberately positions itself between hotel and residential living. Wilde Aparthotels Vienna Fleischmarkt occupies a building that is more than 300 years old; once a post office, it is now part of the revitalized Posthöfe. The address alone has plenty to offer: narrow lanes, historic facades and short distances in every direction. Guests staying here can reach Stephansplatz, the Danube Canal or the Schwedenplatz subway station within just a few minutes. And yet the neighborhood feels less shaped by tourism than other parts of the inner city — urban, lively and with a rhythm of its own.
The property follows the aparthotel principle. Instead of classic rooms, it offers studios and apartments with kitchenettes, designed for weekend guests as well as longer stays. This makes it ideal for travelers who want to stay centrally without giving up a sense of independence. The way the hotel handles the historic fabric is particularly well done. Many traces of the old building have been preserved: high vaulted ceilings, thick walls and generous windows. A contemporary interior adds contrast rather than trying to imitate the past. Here, old and new sit side by side without competing with one another.
On the ground floor, the lobby, bar and lounge areas also open toward the street. This reflects a trend that is becoming increasingly visible in Vienna: new hotels no longer want to be merely places to sleep – they want to become part of the neighborhood. Wilde Aparthotels Vienna Fleischmarkt is therefore a fitting addition to a city that likes to preserve tradition while remaining open to new ways of traveling.

Hideauts Hotels Villa R: A break away from the bustle
The Cottage district in the 19th district is one of those parts of Vienna that rarely appears on visitors’ radar - and that is precisely what makes it so appealing. Quiet streets instead of bustle, stately villas, embassies behind tall hedges. This is the setting into which hideauts hotels Villa R has quietly settled. The address on Hasenauerstrasse is not a classic hotel building, but an Art Deco villa that, after careful renovation, now houses 19 rooms across four floors.
The rooms are divided into three categories, from compact Comfy rooms to more spacious Spacy rooms of around 35 square meters. Those who want a balcony with views of greenery can choose the Chic Garden View category. In the morning, breakfast is served with organic products — not as a large buffet, but thoughtfully composed.
The hideauts concept, developed here by the Viennese hotel group Urbanauts, is deliberately focused on slowing down. No city noise, no rush — instead, a lounge for winding down in the evening, a yoga room and, as a special feature, a hotel-owned Mini Cooper that guests can borrow free of charge for up to four hours.
Vienna is diverse. But up here in the 19th, it feels as if you have gained just enough distance to see the city anew.

Coming Soon: Palais Coburg: Quiet luxury behind historic walls
With a history deeply rooted in Vienna’s aristocracy, Palais Coburg combines historic grandeur with a contemporary understanding of retreat and discreet luxury. Operations behind the historic facade have been paused since early 2025 to allow for a comprehensive repositioning of the property. With this new direction, the focus is shifting away from classic hotel operations and toward an even more private guest experience.
From summer 2026, Palais Coburg will reopen its doors as a private guesthouse. Thirty-six newly redesigned suites will combine the property’s historic character with modern elegance and luxurious comfort. The Belle Étage, with its state rooms, has been carefully restored and staged as the heart of the property, complemented by a new restaurant concept that brings past and present into a coherent dialogue. The architecturally unique casemates have been preserved as a setting for exclusive events, as has the wine archive in the historic vaulted cellars, one of Europe’s most renowned wine cellars. For meetings, seminars, conferences and corporate celebrations, the palais also offers modern, light-filled rooms with technical equipment, personal service and culinary support for groups of 10 to 150 people.
What awaits is the reinvention of a Viennese classic that remains exactly
what it has always been: one of the city’s most exceptional addresses. Those who do not want to wait until the reopening in summer 2026: The two-star restaurant Silvio Nickol as well as Clementine im Glashaus remain open.
