Sustainability is a major focus of the Vienna Tourist Board's Visitor Economy Strategy. One of the stated strategic goals of the Vienna Tourist Board was to increase the number of businesses certified with the Austrian Ecolabel or a comparable, internationally recognized environmental certificate by 25% by 2025 relative to 2018. This target has now been achieved. This illustrates the importance that businesses in the tourism and leisure industry are attaching to active climate change mitigation and how they are also meeting a growing demand from visitors.
