Digital Pocket Assistant
ivie Destination App – Now With Even More Vienna
The ivie city guide app helps visitors to explore Vienna on foot, successfully spreading tourism interest across all areas of the capital. At the prestigious American Webby Awards in 2025, the Vienna Tourist Board’s ivie app stood out against 13,000 entries, securing a spot among the top five travel apps. As of May 2026, it has been downloaded more than two million times. The number of active annual users also remained consistently high, at over 506,000. In 2025, ivie once again featured a digital scavenger hunt centered around the year's theme, where participants answered quiz questions, checking in digitally at individual locations for the chance to win attractive prizes. During the year, nearly 15,000 users answered over 21,000 quiz questions during the Strauss Waltz Challenge. The highlight was a newly introduced augmented reality module, which gave participants the chance to learn the steps to the waltz in front of the Strauss Monument in Stadtpark, bring the statue to life, and use a face filter to turn themselves gold, too. This AR feature was used more than 1,800 times. The selection of curated walks and guided tours also continued to grow in 2025, and now totals 30 Walks and Guides. New additions include walks and guides covering themes like “14 Women, 14 Locations”, the “Before Sunrise Walk”, the “Vienna Crafts Guide”, and the “Vintage Shopping Neighborhood Walk”.
Vienna City Card: Eco-Friendly and Exclusive Benefits
In 2025, the Vienna City Card celebrated its 30th anniversary. In all, 350,127 cards were sold in the year, a 35% increase compared to 2024. In cooperation with sales partner Vienna Sightseeing Tours, this year's performance was the second-best since the card was launched.
The product lineup for Vienna’s official visitor card was also extended. In addition to the established 24, 48, 72-hour, and 7-day options, a new option – the Vienna City Card Discounts Only – was introduced. This discount card reaches new target groups who are already traveling sustainably using Wiener Linien public transportation annual tickets, the Klimaticket rail pass, or exploring the city on foot. Since 1995, more than 7.4 million visitors have made use of the Vienna City Card.
The Vienna Tourist Board's Digital Concierge
The Vienna Tourist Board’s AI Concierge has been available online since 2025. This AI-supported Vienna guide helps guests with all their questions about the city, from top sights to hidden gems. It speaks multiple languages and can handle both voice and text inquiries. It serves as a virtual extension of visitor services and is accessible 24/7.
Tourist Info Assists 380,000 Visitors
The Vienna Tourist Board’s two Tourist Info centers (Albertinaplatz and Vienna International Airport) provided information related to Vienna as a destination to around 380,000 visitors in 2025. In addition, four Mobile Tourist Offices called in at various locations in Vienna during the summer season.
