Friendly Idols

To mark World Smile Day on 4 October 2024, the Vienna Tourist Board teamed up with Viennese museums to put a smile on the faces of artworks.

The ‘Friendly Idols’ campaign highlights Vienna's contradictory image: on the one hand celebrated as the most liveable city in the world, on the other known for the ‘Viennese Grant’ - a mixture of melancholy and rugged charm that is deeply rooted in the city's culture. With ‘Friendly Idols’, the Vienna Tourist Board wants to make this exciting facet of Vienna visible and contribute to a better understanding of the city's unique character.
