Accessibility

Accessibility is a fundamental aspect of sustainable tourism, fostering social inclusion and ensuring that tourism is a right accessible to everyone.

Vienna has a strong foundation and dynamic development in this area and was awarded the European Commission's Access City Award in 2025. Vienna aims to ensure barrier-free access across public transport and public space. Measures such as tactile guidance systems, acoustic traffic lights, widened sidewalks, and curb ramps enhance inclusivity and user experience for all residents and visitors.

The accessibility of hotels, cultural institutions, and meeting infrastructure is also essential for ensuring inclusivity within Tourism. A robust data foundation is currently missing, there is limited information on which and how many businesses provide fully barrier-free zones and services. Further data sources are currently being explored and will follow shortly.

The data that can be found in the dashboard below is currently only available in German. English translations will follow shortly.
