Coat & Bag Storage
Accessible coat and bag storage enables all guests to store their coats and bags independently and comfortably. The following points should be taken into account.
Core Requirements
| Hook heights | Install coat hooks at varying heights, particularly in the range of 100 to 120 cm |
| Reachable lockers | Position lockers or storage compartments at an accessible height (80 to 110 cm) |
| Ease of use | Prefer easy-to-operate locking systems, such as electronic locks with NFC technology or numeric codes |
| Staffed coat check | Offer a staffed coat check as an additional support option where needed |
Practical Tips
| Additional hooks | Retrofit additional hooks at a height of approximately 100–120 cm. This enables wheelchair users and guests of short stature to hang up clothing independently. |
| Locker positioning | Prioritize middle-height lockers and avoid top and bottom rows. This makes access easier for wheelchair users and guests with limited mobility. |
| User-friendly locks | Equip lockers with larger key fobs or easy-to-operate locks (electronic or NFC). This makes handling easier for guests with limited fine motor skills or visual disabilities. |
| Maneuvring space | Keep sufficient maneuvring space in front of the coat and bag storage area (at least 150 cm). This gives wheelchair users enough room to maneuvre. |
| Legible coat check tokens | Design coat check tokens to be large, high-contrast, and tactilerecognizable. This improves readability for guests with visual disabilities. |
| Personal assistance | Offer a staffed coat check at events. This provides guests with disabilities with personal support where needed. |
