September 1, 2026 – Vienna’s luxury hotels have focused for years on exceptional spa experiences, ranging from historic bath vaults to exclusive retreats high above the city’s rooftops. They create wellness experiences in extraordinary settings, giving guests an unforgettable stay. Now, a new trend is gradually taking hold in the city: modern longevity offerings could provide even more appeal for health-conscious visitors to Vienna in the future.

Historic hotels and traditional spa experiences

The Mandarin Oriental, Vienna is located in a meticulously refurbished Art Nouveau building in Vienna’s city center, creating an unforgettable experience through a blend of historic design elements. The 700-square-meter spa area features a roughly 13-meter-long heated indoor pool, several treatment rooms, a private spa suite, and a fitness area. Treatments follow Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)-based “signature therapies”. Highlights include, for example, the “The Artisan” treatment, a three-hour sauna ritual led by the in-house sauna expert with aromatic infusion sessions, a steam exfoliation, and traditional sauna whisking.

Park Hyatt Vienna – Arany Spa: The Arany Spa is now located in the former vault of the old Länderbank. Beneath historic vaulted ceilings, guests swim in the 15-meter-long pool accompanied by underwater music. The Signature Treatment takes its name from the spa’s name, featuring treatments that incorporate gold (“Arany” means “gold” in Hungarian). As a modern addition to the spa offering and a new longevity element, a cryotherapy chamber has recently become available.

The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna is the Anantara Group’s first venture in Austria and is located in the historic Palais Hansen, which was built in 1873 based on a design by the renowned Viennese architect Theophil Hansen. Spanning 800 square meters, guests can enjoy a spacious and diverse range of spa amenities: a heated indoor hydrotherapy pool, several saunas, a steam room, treatment rooms, and a fitness area equipped with modern equipment. In addition to classic facial and body beauty treatments, the hotel offers special fitness options, including personal training and three recommended running routes that start from the hotel and can be chosen based on distance or personal preference.

The Hotel Sans Souci Vienna houses a 450 square-meter space that contains the city’s longest hotel pool (20 meters), accented with crystal chandeliers by the Italian lighting design company Viabizzuno. The spa area includes two saunas, a steam bath, an ice shower and ice fountain, relaxation rooms, and fitness and treatment rooms. Spa guests can choose from 11 different massages and four body scrubs.

The Almanac Palais Vienna combines imperial heritage with urban luxury. The spa area includes a 14-meter indoor pool, steam bath, sauna, treatment rooms, and a fitness room. One special highlight is the “The Viennese Lift & Glow Ritual” treatment, a revitalizing facial that combines gua sha, glow cupping, dry brushing, and cryo massage for a radiant complexion.

The Amauris Vienna impresses as a boutique luxury hotel with individually designed suites, the multiple award-winning gourmet restaurant Glasswing, and an elegant spa area with a clear point of distinction: a heated pool under a glass roof in the inner courtyard. There is also a Finnish sauna, a steam bath with aromatherapy, an ice fountain, a treatment room, and a fitness area. The focus is on facial and body treatments that work specifically with colors, scents, and sounds. The spa area is available exclusively to hotel guests. Unlike the other hotels mentioned, it does not offer a day spa.

Longevity and infusion therapy: the new trend beyond day spas

Longevity, the pursuit of a long, healthy life, is among the most important developments in the international well-being market and is making its way into health tourism. While many luxury hotels are expanding their wellness offerings with individual treatments such as cryotherapy (cold therapy) or oxygen treatments, the longevity approach in specialized centers goes one step further toward a holistic health concept. Here is a selection of Vienna-based centers.

Biogena Plaza positions itself as a “Luxury Health Day Spa,” but is intentionally designed to be walk-in-friendly. At its location on Operngasse in the 1st district, as well as at the newly opened second location at Mariahilfer Straße 50 in the 7th district, the offering ranges from biohacking treatments such as cryotherapy in the cold chamber to red light therapy, as well as lymphatic drainage, magnetic field therapy, oxygen therapy, and bone density measurement, plus skin analysis and medical treatments under physician supervision such as vitamin infusions and various health checks. On site at the Operngasse location, Mayrlife also operates its own medical area with physician-supported diagnostic and preventive offerings based on modern Mayr medicine, which comes from the renowned Mayrlife Health Resort in Altausee (Styrian Salzkammergut).

The Longevity Center Vienna sees itself as an interface between medicine, technology, and urban lifestyle. Core offerings here also include a cryotherapy chamber, an oxygen chamber, red light therapy, lymphatic drainage, and 3D body scans. In addition, there are 27 different infusions and various high-dose “vitamin shots” under medical supervision. The center is the first institution in Austria to focus on brain health. With the help of a comprehensive brain function analysis, it measures brain activity and cognitive responses to develop personalized prevention and health programs – a service that, so far, is only available in Vienna.

The Healthy Aging Medical Center Vienna positions itself as the “first medical longevity center in Europe,” with a focus on genetics and epigenetics. The starting point is always a genetic test to determine biological age, from which individualized nutrition, exercise, and hormone therapy plans are derived.
