Day 1 morning:
A day in Prater, the site of the 1873 World’s Fair
- Option A: Walk around the former World´s Fair site
There is such variety around the Vienna Prater: this is where fun, historical, and ultra-modern convene. Take a walk around the former site of the 1873 World’s Fair and discover the campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, designed by internationally renowned architects. Right nearby is Viertel Zwei, one of Vienna’s most important and exciting urban development areas.
A range of locomotives pull the airy, open wagons through the unique ambiance of Vienna’s Würstelprater, onward through the floodplain forest (which remains refreshingly cool even in summer), to the Ernst Happel Stadium, and back again.
- Option C: Bicycle tour in the Prater
In addition to Vienna’s oldest roller coaster, the bike rental offers span all sizes and colors fit for the whole family.
- Lunch
For lunch we recommend Neni am Prater or Living Kitchen im ZOKU.
Day 1 afternoon:
- Option A: Prater Museum
Vienna’s unique amusement park, the Wurstelprater, has been shaping the identity of the city and its population for more than 250 years. In the newly built Prater Museum near the Giant Ferris Wheel, countless curious objects recount the history of a Viennese landmark.
- Option B: Wurstelprater
The Wurstelprater: Fast-paced roller coasters, an autodrome, a free-fall tower with a view, and scary ghost trains provide plenty of adrenaline in Vienna's largest amusement park - with over 250 attractions.
- Dinner
Dinner in Vienna´s Prater: Schweizerhaus, Luftburg Kolarik or Rollercoaster Restaurant.
Day 2 morning:
Discover today the craftsmanship of yesteryear
The World’s Fair guide in our ivie app takes you to exceptional places that are closely linked to the World’s Fair. Then as now, Vienna is renowned for fine artisan craftwork, such as masterpieces from the glass manufacturer J. & J. Lobmeyer, which still exists today, together with the silversmiths Jarosinski & Vaugoin, Bösendorfer Klaviere, and the A.E. Köchert jewelers. Discover these timeless businesses with the guide.
- Option B: Bösendorfer Salon
Vienna plays among the elite when it comes to instrument making. Most notably, the Bösendorfer piano manufactory which has been materializing Viennese sound since 1828. And so, for over a hundred years, the Bösendorfer Salon has been located in the Musikverein, in Vienna’s 1st district - the piano shop with a guarantee of listening pleasure.
- Lunch
Experience a truly imperial Sunday brunch with champagne in the ballrooms of the luxurious Hotel Imperial Vienna. Or, enjoy the sweet and savory delicacies of Gerstner K.u.K. Hofzuckerbäckerei while having the best view of the Vienna State Opera.
Day 2 afternoon:
- Option A: Explore the Austrian Parliament
The Parliament on Vienna's Ringstrasse is one of the most important buildings in Austria and is an architectural jewel. Its extensive renovation was completed in early 2023 and now shines in new splendor.
Explore the Austrian Parliament first-hand and participate in a free guided tour. You can also experience a breathtaking view of the city center from the roof terrace of the Parliament!
- Option B: Take a ride with the Future Bus
Want to dive deep into Vienna's history using virtual reality technology? This is possible with the Future Bus, an interactive bus tour that makes the past come alive at numerous historical sights throughout the city using VR glasses.

In 2023, the Weltmuseum Wien focuses on the topic "150 years of the Vienna World Exhibition": From January to December, a guided tour (alternating between German and English) entitled "The Vienna World Exhibition 1873 and Art Nouveau" will be offered every Saturday at 11.15 a.m.
In addition, visitors will receive a free booklet on site with information about the 1873 World Exhibition and the pieces showcased in the Weltmuseum´s exhibition.

With its unique collection of top-class works of art and historical exhibits, the Wien Museum offers insights into the city's history, from the Neolithic Age to the present day.
- Lunch
Lunch in the city center: At Café Landtmann, one of the most famous coffee houses in Vienna, or at Restaurant Kelsen, the new restaurant in the parliament.
Day 3 afternoon:
- Option A: MAK - Museum of Applied Arts
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873, the MAK addresses a critical aspect of this internationally prestigious show: the presentation of the East as an orientalist construct of the 19th century.
- Option B: House of Strauss
The House of Strauss offers a unique musical and culinary experience in the capital of classical music. The exhibition will open in 2023 and concerts will start in 2024.
- Dinner
Enjoy a range of dishes, ingredients, and flavors that have been around in Vienna since the Austro-Hungarian empire. Popular at the time but increasingly forgotten, they are being reinterpreted and tastefully presented by award-winning Chef Stefan Glantschnig at Brasserie Casino Zögernitz. A vegetarian restaurant in a class of its own is Tian: Head Chef Paul Ivic has cooked his way up to four toques and one Michelin star with his creative dishes in this meatless gourmet temple.
