The Belvedere - 300 Years a Place of Art

Celebrations to mark the 300th anniversary of the construction of the Upper Belvedere will start in December 2022. Featuring a packed program of events and exhibitions, the special milestone will play out under the specially chosen theme of Golden Spring.

Against the backdrop of Vienna CityHall, skaters can glide around to their heart’s content on a unique icy landscape that includes four ice rinks as well as a trail that criss-crosses the enchantingly decorated Rathauspark. The Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien will be presenting Georg Baselitz in a dialogue with old masters. The exhibition features around 80 works from Baselitz and 40 from the Picture Gallery of the Kunsthistorisches Museum – focusing solely on the nude.

40th Vienna City Marathon

Christmas markets 2023

Some of the city’s most attractive squares are transformed into enchanting Christmas markets between mid-November and Christmas. The aromas of freshly baked cookies, steaming punch and roasted almond shang in the air. Festive lights twinkle above the old town and shopping streets, spreading Christmas cheer throughout the city.

Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail

On December 31, Vienna city center is transformed into a giant party scene.

From 2pm until 2am the New Year’s Eve trail in the old town, on Rathausplatz and at the Prater keeps the entertainment coming. Numerous stopping-off points offer culinary specialties where the sounds of waltz, rock, pop and live DJs add up to an unforgettable experience.
