Viennese population’s attitude to tourism 2018

Today, when more than 1.4 billion people travel abroad every year, appreciation of tourism among the local population is a quality factor. Since Vienna in its 2020 tourism strategy plans to increase the number of overnights to 18 million, it is essential to measure the attitude to tourism of its population. “Only a city that is good to its residents is also good to its guests,” tourism director Norbert Kettner summarizes the reason for the representative survey on the attitude to tourism of the Viennese population.

On a monthly basis, the Vienna Tourist Board, in collaboration with the market research institute MANOVA, monitors the attitude of residents of Vienna to tourism topics. The study based on a total of 3,650 interviews shows: 94% of Viennese citizens are very positive about tourism.
