Gemischter Satz DAC wine
Producers of the legendary Viennese Gemischter Satz will be able to display the Districtus Austriae Controllatus (DAC) geographical indicator and quality seal on their wines from the 2013 vintage onwards. Viennese ball season about to start
Traditional and contemporary balls will provide plenty of magic moments in the 2014 ball season. Around 450 balls are held in the city each year, from traditional formal dances to down-to-earth carnival season parties. The Viennese Red Cross Ball on November 15, 2013 gets the season under way, with Le Grand Bal at the Hofburg Vienna supplying the New Year’s Eve highlight a few weeks later. The ball season is in full swing at carnival time – known locally as Fasching – in January and February.

Christmas markets in Vienna in 2013
The first Christmas market of 2013 opens in early November, followed closely by the larger markets towards the middle of the month. The many stalls feature a huge selection of decorations, handicrafts, candles and toys as well as festive food and drink.

Vienna to create world-first art project robotic technology to be used in London
2nd September 2013, London. One artist, two robots, three pieces of art and a one of a kind art project initiated by the Vienna Tourist Board. On Thursday 26th September 2013, Vienna will make art history in Trafalgar Square. For the first time ever, one artist will create three pieces of art in three separate cities at the same time, using advanced robotic technology: Long Distance Art: Global.Studio.Vienna.

Europe's largest business university campus to open in Vienna
The new 100,000 square meter project, officially opens on October 4, 2013 and is the work of leading international architects Zaha Hadid Architects, CRAB studio, Atelier Hitoshi Abe, BUSarchitektur, Estudio Carme Pinós and NO.MAD Arquitectos.

Art in the Winter Palace
Prince Eugene’s Winter Palace in Vienna’s historic city center is set to open its doors to contemporary art lovers. To mark the 350th anniversary of the Field Marshall and patron of the art’s birth, the state rooms of his winter residence are being given a new lease on life as a satellite of the Belvedere gallery.
