Taking in the perfect sound, and more than that, hearing it inside the holy grail of classical music. This extraordinary experience is on offer at the Bösendorfer Salon at the Musikverein. The renowned piano maker has had its showroom in the back of the Musikverein building since 1914. In 1900, the company’s founder Ludwig Bösendorfer built the first concert grand that had an acoustic range covering a full eight octaves. Béla Bartók, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel composed special pieces specifically designed to exploit the full tonal range of this incredible instrument.
As well as hearing the famous, lively Bösendorfer sound, visitors can reproduce it themselves on one of the hand-made concert grand pianos.
