The Vienna City Card – the official Vienna Tourist Board visitor card – is Austria’s most successful visitor card. And now distribution partner DocLX has introduced a number of new variants: from April 2017 visitors have the option of purchasing tickets with hop-on hop-off tours operated by Big Bus Vienna, as an alternative to the card that includes travel on the Wiener Linien public transportation network. To help visitors distinguish between the two versions, the Vienna City Cards come in two different designs: red for Wiener Linien and white for Big Bus Vienna.
Both versions can be purchased for periods of 24, 48 or 72 hours, and provide discounts at more than 210 tourist attractions in the city including major museums and sights, concert and theatre performances, shops, restaurants and Heuriger wine taverns.
Cards that include free travel on the Wiener Linien public transportation network cost EUR 13.90 for 24 hours, EUR 21.90 for 48 hours and EUR 24.90 for 72 hours. Tickets with the Big Bus option cost EUR 28 for 24 hours, EUR 31 for 48 hours and EUR 35 for 72 hours. The Vienna City Card is especially attractive for families, since one child travels free per ticket – aged 14 and under with the Wiener Linien public transportation network, or 15 and under with Big Bus Vienna.
Free transportation on the Wiener Linien network applies for the whole duration of the Vienna City Card purchased. The Big Bus Vienna variant includes a 24-hour hop-on hop-off tour and a guided city walk. All versions of the Vienna City Card are available from the online shop (http://shop.vienna.info), the tourist information centre on Albertinaplatz, at the Main Station, at Vienna International Airport, from travel agents and from hotels in the city. They can also be purchased from Big Bus Tours and Wiener Linien ticket desks directly. The Vienna City Card app is available from the App Store and Google Play Store.
