Vienna Media News 02/2017 Life Ball returns and other favourites

The Life Ball is Europe’s best – and highest grossing – AIDS/HIV charity event. Everyone from the Federal Chancellor to Hollywood celebrities gather on Rathausplatz for the fashion show presenting the creations of top designers before heading inside City Hall for one of the city’s best party nights. Life Ball tickets are seriously hot property, but everyone can enjoy the spectacular opening ceremony and fashion show free of charge.

The identities Queer Film Festival, which takes place in Vienna every two years, is the city’s second largest international film event after the Viennale. From June 8-15, 2017 it will show leading queer film productions from across the globe at some of the capital’s most attractive art-house cinemas. A packed fringe programmme and no end of parties and club nights make for an exciting week.

Vienna Pride will dominate proceedings from June 9-17, 2017, including a return to Rathausplatz for the popular Pride Village (June 13-17, 2017). Info and concession stands, deckchairs and a DJ line-up will ensure an enjoyable four days. Each year Vienna Pride culminates with the Rainbow Parade, which will take to the Ringstrasse boulevard once again this year on June 17, 2017, issuing a renewed call for tolerance and equal opportunities.
