The inaugural Take – Independent Festival for Fashion and Art will introduce a new festival format for the city when it gets under way on April 19, 2016: for six days it will showcase the nation’s contemporary fashion scene at the Alte Post building in Vienna’s historic city centre. The spacious venue on Dominikanerbastei will feature a stage and provides a platform for fashion performances and shows, presentations of current collections, exhibitions, screenings, readings and panel discussions. The AFA - Austrian Fashion Awards will also be presented during the new festival. The event in the Alte Post building is hosted by the Austrian Fashion Association (AFA) and event organiser creative headz. AFA has been responsible for organising the allocation of fashion subsidies issued by the City of Vienna since 2014, and the other projects managed by creative headz include MQ Vienna Fashion Week.
From April 29-May 1, 2016 Modepalast will host a temporary boutique at the Künstlerhaus with around 100 Austrian and international exhibitors. The venue on Karlsplatz will also be filled with fashion, jewellery and accessories in a range of styles for all generations, from streetwear to urban couture and high fashion. Fashion fans will find a strong mix of young designers and established names at the fair. The 2016 Modepalast event has a special focus on green fashion, evening wear, menswear and headwear.
