Vienna Media News 06/2015 Culture in Vienna in fall 2015

viennacontemporary will see an elite group of art collectors, curators, gallery owners and art buffs from all over the world converge on the Austrian capital from September 24-27, 2015. Held at the Marx Halle in the 3rd district, this new fair profiles contemporary Central and Eastern European art and an exclusive selection of galleries. The team behind viennacontemporary is the same group that staged the Viennafair art fair at the Messe Wien. Besides the new name, the event also has a new location to go with it. Built in the late 19th century, the heritage-listed Marx Halle was Vienna’s first wrought iron building and its architecture and sheer size continue to make an impression to this day. From October 8-11, 2015 Viennafair will take place at the Messe Wien in the second district under new management, retaining its tried-and-tested focus on international contemporary art. For the first time this year the event will include a parallel fair for art dealers entitled the Viennafair Masters.

A month later, Vienna Art Week offers a packed program from November 16-22, 2015. A packed line-up of exhibitions, podium discussions, lectures, discussions with the artists, special guided tours, installations, interventions and performances turn Vienna into a mecca for art lovers and experts from all over the world for a whole week. On October 3, 2015 a single ticket grants holders access to the exhibitions and collections on show at around 100 Viennese museums, galleries and cultural institutions between 6pm and 1am during the Long Night of Museums. The event also features discussions with artists, readings and live music. The Long Night ticket also acts as a free pass for the special shuttle bus and Viennese public transportation network.
