On May 6th 2015 the European Union and the United Arab Emirates signed a short-stay visa waiver agreement. The agreement has been sent to the European Parliament with a view to obtaining its consent before it can be finally concluded.

On a provisional basis, as from May 6th 2015 UAE citizens are permitted to visit many European countries that are part of the Schengen area without having to obtain a visa prior to travel and need only to produce their passport at the airport of entry. They will then be eligible to stay for 90 uninterrupted days.

Visa free travel applies to all categories of persons and for any kind of purposes of travel (e.g. tourism), except for persons travelling for purpose of carrying a paid activity.

The waiver is expected to ease travel and increase tourism between UAE and Europe.

Vienna is looking forward to welcoming you!
