A major highlight on the annual calendar is the Long Night of Museums - a late night event that grants culture fans full access to around 90 museums throughout the capital with a single ticket. From 6pm to 1am on October 5, 2013 ticket holders can check out all the latest exhibitions at participating venues, and enjoy a packed program of workshops, readings, special guided tours, live music and events for children. A shuttle bus service (included in the ticket price) provides easy links between the various museums.

From October 10-13, 2013 Viennafair The New Contemporary will showcase the very latest in contemporary art at the Messe Wien where top galleries from Central and Eastern, and Southeastern Europe present modern art, including painting, graphic art, sculpture, photography, installations and performances. The 2012 event attracted 122 galleries and drew more than 17,000 visitors.

Art lovers and experts from the international art world will be swapping notes on current trends in art and art criticism during Vienna Art Week from November 18-24, 2013. Initiated by the Dorotheum and designed by Art Cluster Vienna, this major event is a joint initiative by various Viennese art institutions, museums, artists and collectors. The program includes panel discussions, talks, discussions with artists, exhibition openings, tours of special exhibitions, installations, interventions and performances.
