Vienna Media News 11/2012 Viennese hotels: new openings and upcoming projects

New arrivals in the capital include the first Austrian branch of America's Ritz-Carlton hotel chain which opened its doors to the public in August 2012. A grand total of four mansion houses on Vienna's Ringstrasse boulevard were completely remodeled to accommodate the new hotel's 202 rooms and suites.

In late October 2012 Hotel Lamée will welcomed its first guests in a renovated 1930s building in the city center. This intimate four-star-plus design hotel offers just 22 rooms and ten suites. The rooms on the seventh floor have their own private terraces, and the rooftop garden has stunning views of St. Stephen's Cathedral. On the ground floor, Bloom, a combination of café, bar and bistro, is open to hotel guests and the general public alike.

The end of 2012 is scheduled to bring the grand opening of Hotel Sans Souci Wien, a luxury five-star hotel with 122 beds right next to the MuseumsQuartier in the Neubau district.

Early March 2013 will witness the opening of a new extension at the 25hours Hotel Wien. Also in the Neubau district, this new development will take the fashionable three-star hotel's total capacity to more than 372 beds. The new five-star Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna is set to open at around the same time. Located in an opulent former mansion house on the Ringstrasse boulevard, this new hotel will offer 304 beds, two restaurants and a private spa zone.

A new boutique hotel named The Guesthouse is due to open its doors in a prime location close to the opera in summer 2013. The interior of this 78-bed, five-star-equivalent hotel bears the design signature of none other than Sir Terence Conran. 2014 will feature the opening of the 143-room Hotel Park Hyatt in a complex of historic buildings in the old town which will also be home to the Golden Quarter, Vienna's new luxury shopping zone (
