The inauguration of the new Check In 3 terminal marked the completion of the largest construction project ever undertaken at Vienna International Airport. This concrete, steel and tinted glass building comprises two elements: the 71,000 square meter Pier Süd (33 Schengen gates, 15 non-Schengen gates, 18 immigration desks) and a 76,000 square meter terminal (64 check-in desks, approx. 40 automated check-in desks, 12 security lanes, eight departure desks, ten baggage carousels). Check In 3 offers 31 new shops and 19 new catering outlets including the Indochine light restaurant, which has its very own show kitchen, and the deCanto wine bar and store. The new Check In 3 doubles the amount of terminal space at Vienna airport.
Thanks to its location in the heart of Europe, Vienna International Airport has gone from strength to strength as a hub for passengers traveling to and from Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The new terminal will offer passengers an even more convenient and safer travel experience, cutting turnaround times at the airport despite the continuing rise in passenger volumes.
