My culture tip:
The Theater an der Wien never fails to impress audiences with its excellent productions of operas by Handel, many of which are very rarely performed.
My favorite place:
I love the MAK's historic Säulenhalle. This arcaded hall is at the heart of the museum and marks the starting point from which visitors can set off for the different parts of the collection, before heading for the inspired - and inspirational - design shop or the one-of-a-kind gourmet museum restaurant (Österreicher im MAK).
My food tip:
Trzesniewski's famous open sandwiches really are good! The first ever Trzesniewski shop in Dorotheergasse is a great place to soak up the authentic sandwich bar atmosphere.
My shopping tip:
Thankfully Vienna still has a number of excellent traditional manufacturers with stores in the historic first district - Lobmeyr, Backhausen and Augarten are three outstanding examples.
What no visitor to Vienna should miss:
I love the vineyards in the city's suburb of Neustift - it's hard to think of anything better than going there for a stroll on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
