Colorful tiles on the roof of St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna

Vienna Media News 03/2012 Park delights

Delicious cured Mangalitsa hams, tangy Bergkäse cheese from the mountains of Vorarlberg, marinated char from Styria, crusty organic farmer's loaves from the Weinviertel district and aromatic saffron from the Wachau region. More than 100 of Austria's leading producers and manufacturers will converge on Vienna's Stadtpark from May 11-13, 2012 for the Genussfestival, a celebration of traditional and homemade food from all over the country. The school of tasting and culinary delights gives festival goers the chance to find out more about the Austrian delicacies on offer before sampling selected specialties for themselves. Guest appearances by some of Austria's best and most highly decorated chefs ensure that standards are high and provide some of the highlights of the three-day festival.

This gourmet get-together will take place for the fifth time in 2012. Last year's event saw more than 130,000 visitors descend on the Stadtpark. The 2012 Genussfestival will also include a packed program of lectures and tasting sessions.
