New Beds for the City
The new Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom opened its doors in mid-December 2010. Planned as a five-star superior hotel, this new, centrally located glass and steel tower on the Danube Canal bears the design signature of French Pritzker prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. The 182 tastefully furnished rooms and suites and the panoramic glass-fronted public restaurant on the eighteenth floor offer breathtaking views of the city. The culinary concept at Le Loft is the brainchild of three Michelin star-winning chef Antoine Westermann, who aims to unite French elegance and haute cuisine. The high-rise development is also home to a design center with upscale interior design and lifestyle stores, and a restaurant, Neni im Zweiten.
Construction work on the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna is already underway. This new 300-bed luxury hotel in a historic palace on the Ringstrasse is due to open in 2012.
