The Designpfad will get the ball rolling in the seventh district from May 25-28, 2011. For three days the district's artists and designers will open up their studios, workshops and exhibition spaces to the public. 20 different venues will show textiles, fashion, jewelry, furniture, ceramics, industrial design, painting, photography, film and much more. The seventh district (Neubau), and particularly the areas directly behind the MuseumsQuartier and around Siebensterngasse, is fully deserving its reputation as Vienna's creative heart. In recent years more and more creatives have set up in the area, often taking over dilapidated workshops and studios in a continuation of the district's creative past.

From May 26, 2011 the MAK (Museum of Applied Arts | Contemporary Art) will be at the forefront of fashion and design. Modepalast will transform the MAK into the city's largest boutique, and Austria's biggest sales exhibition for fashion, jewelry, and accessories. A mix of established international fashion labels and emerging talents will move into the museum on Stubenring to showcase their latest collections and an impressive selection of jewelry and accessories. 2011 will see the ninth installment of the Modepalast with a special focus on Generations - and for the first time exclusive fashion for the over 50s, aka best agers. Like last year, the four-day event will also feature a raft of fashion labels dedicated to sustainability, environmental protection and fair trade.
