Men’s Fashion Hotspots In Vienna
The Adolf Loos-designed building at Graben 13, one of Vienna's most sought-after addresses, is home to gentlemen's outfitters Knize & Comp. (est. 1858). Knize's former patrons include the archdukes of the House of Habsburg, and to this day the company remains true to its uncompromising philosophy of putting style before passing fads. Another time-honored Viennese institution, Rudolf Scheer & Söhne, is just around the corner from Knize. The family business, now in its sixth generation, is still making quality tailored ladies' and gentlemen's footwear.
More recent additions to the Vienna fashion scene include the stops on the Pour l'homme shopping tour. This three-hour tour, staged by the 7tm shop owners association in the seventh district, shows dedicated followers of men's fashion where to find individualistic outfits. Bespoke suits at affordable prices await at Rotknopf, while at new boutique E35 the focus is firmly on trendsetting Italian labels.
Still in the seventh, the rails at concept store Park are lined with men's fashion for aficionados, with labels including Martin Margiela and Ann Demeulemeester, and creations from the former (Raf Simons) and incumbent (Bernhard Willhelm) professors of fashion at the University of Applied Arts. Over in the fourth district, Samstag recently opened a new store devoted primarily to men's fashion. Viennese designer Peter Holzinger's superated line and selected Austrian and international labels are on sale here. Samstag is open on Thursday evenings (18:00-22:00), Friday afternoons (12:00-19:00) and all day on Saturdays (10:00-19:00).
