By tour bus into Vienna's Old City

New arrangements for buses have come into effect for the central zone of Vienna's Old City on 1 May 2014, when journeys within this innermost area of the city (Ringstraße – Franz-Josefs-Kai) will be prohibited all year round. Exception: essential transfers with access card. Unrestricted use of Vienna's Ringstrasse will remain possible.

Essential journeys within the Old City include the arrival and departure to and from hotels, event venues and dining establishments. An access card is needed for these. However, buses are not permitted to operate within the city for sightseeing tours or similar reasons.

If you have to drive your tour bus into the area bounded by Ringstrasse Franz-Josefs-Kai, please ask the hotel, dining establishment or organizer you want to drive to for a valid bus access card.

It is possible to travel along the Ringstrasse itself by bus, whereas access is also prohibited from the inner side lanes of the Ringstrasse. The areas around the Burgtheater and the Stock Exchange are excepted from this as two out of a total of nine places where bus groups can alight from or get on their buses are there.

The following boarding and setting down points are available to your bus passengers for sightseeing tours of Vienna's Old City:

  • Börseplatz
  • Burgring
  • Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz
  • Johannesgasse
  • Josef-Meinrad-Platz
  • Schwedenplatz
  • Secession
  • Weiskirchnerstraße
  • Votive Church

The existing and successful arrangements for shopping Saturdays in Advent will remain in place.
