Vienna Media News 11/2011 Christmas markets for design lovers

The extensive halls of Vienna's MuseumsQuartier will play host to a Design Christmas Market from November 25-27, 2011. A huge choice of items including the very latest creations by more than 100 designers will be on sale at WeihnachtsQuartier im MQ. Clothing, jewellery, accessories, books and much more besides await at this market - admission is free of charge! The rest of Vienna's trademark culture complex will in fact turn Christmassy - but not kitschy - even earlier. From 10 November. Winter im MQ will serve up hot punch in cool pavilions and offer plenty of diversions with curling, DJs and video projections.

The Design Christmas Market in the Looshaus is set to take place for the seventh consecutive year. The market is treasure trove for anyone looking for stylish gifts. In the refined ambience of the listed Looshaus on Michaelerplatz, over 50 designers will display their wares, from hats and bags to ceramics, clothing and jewellery. At the smaller Lights 2011 in the Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus (WUK), an alternative culture centre in the ninth district, young designers will present the fruits of their labour, with visitors treated to a buffet and an accompanying musical programme.
