Vienna Design Week 2011, Campaign Lichterloh

Vienna Design Week works closely with Viennese museums and manufacturers and designers from all over the world to shed light on different approaches to the subject of design. Hosted by Neigungsgruppe Design, the event showcases a broad range of Austrian and international product, furniture and industrial design creations and experimental projects. As a cultural festival, Vienna Design Week is committed to presenting design to a broader public as an important aspect of cultural production.

In addition to exhibitions and presentations, the festival schedule includes debates and panel discussions. The Passion Paths are among the annual highlights. Ten up-and-coming designers are invited by selected Viennese stores to create installations with a specific link to the place where they appear. The interplay between experimental works and commercial contexts gives rise to thought-provoking results which design fans can see as they walk through the city.  Poland, this year's guest country, will be showcasing its burgeoning design scene in 2011. There is also a special focus on the second district, which will host numerous events. The district is also home to the festival info point at the Stilwerk design center in the stunning Jean Nouvel tower.
