Roll out the red carpet for film music: contemporary and classic genre highlights will be performed live at the Hollywood in Vienna gala night. The evening gets underway with the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna and conductor John Axelrod who will whisk listeners away into a magical musical wonderland including a flight through the night skies accompanied by an alien (E.T.), a ride on a dragon (How to Train Your Dragon), and a trip to see Peter Pan in Neverland (Hook). Star guest, maestro Patrick Doyle, will present some of his compositions for the Harry Potter movies and Sounds by Bruce Broughton bring the enchanting world of Disney to life.

Afterwards, the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award will be presented to Alan Silvestri, the award-winning composer behind numerous classic Hollywood film scores. Broughton's music for the films of Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemecki achieved world fame (Back to the Future, Beowulf, Polar Express, Forrest Gump). Vienna-born Max Steiner (1888-1971), in whose name the film music prize is given, ranks amongst the most successful composers in Hollywood history. He wrote the scores for King Kong, Gone with the Wind and Casablanca. Virtuoso harpist Xavier de Maistre and the Vienna Singing Academy will provide the musical backdrop for the evening, which will be compered by Gedeon Burkhard.
